It is very easy to buy anything through credit card as you do not need to make immediate payments. Moreover, people enjoy many discounts by purchasing through credit card in particular outlets. This convenience and concession has enhanced its popularity so much that it is widely used all over the world especially in developed countries. We do not face any problem until we receive credit card bill of monthly purchase. But credit card consolidation loan is something that allows you to welcome your credit card bill every month.
When you swap credit card on the machine, 2.5% of purchase value is charged immediately along with purchased amount. This is the interest of first month that does not tease us usually. But credit card bills usually carry heavy interest rate of 28% to 36%. This interest rate is more than twice of the highest interest rate that a bank charges on other loans. Credit card consolidation can help you by paying these monthly bills if you have insufficient amount to pay off the bills.
For instance, you have three credit cards of different banks and you do shopping through all of them. As a result, you received bills of $500, $400 and $800. You do not have $1,700 right now to pay off the bill. If you will not pay this bill with in due date, banks will charge 3% monthly (36% annually). But if you take credit card consolidation loan in this situation, it will cost no more than 1.5% per month (18% annually). So taking credit card consolidation loan will be a prudent decision.
A problem arises when you take credit card consolidation loan. If you take these credit card consolidation loans monthly to pay off credit card bills, these monthly loans of small amounts will cost you more than a single consolidated loan of sum of all these amounts. For instance, if you take credit card consolidated loans of $1,700 per month ($20,400 per annum), interest rate will be 1.5% per month (18% annually). But if you further consolidate this loan of 20,400 by taking another loan, it will not cost you more than 1% per month (12% annually). But this double credit card consolidation will add complexity in already complex situation.
When making contract of credit card consolidation loan, you should read the contract carefully. Make it sure that double consolidation clause is there in the contract. Your bank may name it differently but its inherent feature will remain the same. Absence of this clause will make the contract ineffective for you.
